Manuela Álvarez
Manuela Álvarez, directora creativa de la marca MAZ quien desde pequeña entablo una relación con la moda como medio de exploración personal, experimento desde sus inicios con diferentes estilos e intervenciones de prendas. Estudió diseño de moda en el Istituto Marangoni de Milán en donde por medio de la exploración descubrió su interés por la sastrería contemporánea y su propia voz como creativa.
Consuelo works in the industry since 36 years ago. Her journey as a clothes manufacturer started when she had to provide for her children, but throughout the years, it transformed into a constant professional and intellectual learning process. She believes MAZ has given her the opportunity to evolve in her process and develop her skills in pattern and manufacturing clothes, as well as opening the door as a family to her. Every collection she makes for MAZ is a constant evolving process due to the challenges she accomplishes, making her feel fulfilled and gratified.
Floralba has been working in the industry for 45 years. She enjoys embroiding because it’s something that fills her soul. Her work is full of love and she transmits the emotions she feels into her pieces. She owns her sewing workshop since 30 years ago, where she embroiders all types of garments. Every pice she creates, is a different world for her, and she loves exploring the various emotions embroidering makes her feel.
Daisy started working in the industry 26 years ago, specializing in leather, suede, and cloths. Every handmade piece she makes is caracterized by her handmade work: embroidery, perforations, knitwear and artisanal details. Daisy loves art, she believes the human body is a canvas, and that is where she creates her artwork. She tries to make every single person that wears MAZ garments, feel like a work of art.
Leonel started working in the industry 20 years ago. He specializes in womens wear, and enjoys making every type of garment for MAZ, from coats and jackets to skirts. He has always worked by himself in sartorial and custom clothing.
Nora has been manufacturing clothes since 42 years ago. She started with the elaboration of blouses, dresses and pants for MAZ, but then specialized in working with the indigenious artisan elaborations in Guanga vertical loom “Chumbes” and “Sayos”. Her favorite part of her work is seeing her MAZ pieces finished and ready to sell. Nora works with her two daughters in her sewing workshop, and has a talent for teaching her family the escence of manufacturing clothes.
Sagrario started her journey hand knitting in the textile industry 35 years ago. Later on she bought her sewing machine, and started working in a factory for 10 years. During those 10 years, her mother became gravely ill, therefore the factory owner decided to let her work from home leading to her independence in her sewing career. For Sagrario the most important thing is to achive our creative director’s goals and the love she delivers in every piece of MAZ. She believes that each garment has to be created with love and positivism in order for it to be successful.
