SUSTAINABILITY
90% of our pieces are made by artisan hands or have artisanal interventions.
Our work team is made up mostly of female heads of household and indigenous and artisan communities, our purpose is to support vulnerable human groups, to help them grow, develop, and to be a platform to show their culture and talent to the world .
Currently MAZ Manuela Alvarez has directly supported more than 60 artisan and indigenous families, and has impacted more than 500 traditional artisans from 7 regions in Colombia. For Manuela Ál-varez, collaboration with social agents and minorities has become a pur-pose and a priority that must be preserved in the DNA of the brand.
With each piece that we develop, we make the conscious decision to make few units and several only on request. We make sure to provide our artisans and production teams with stable and sustainable work without overproducing. We manage a limited fabric inventory, thus controlling the excessive purchase of raw materials. We use high quality processes and materials, and once the production is
done we use the left pieces to create new garments, controlling and avoiding contaminating excess.
Through these responsible practices, we offer our customers unique, exclusive, and fair handmade pieces, while encouraging them to take an approach to
fashion from a different perspective.
TEXTILES
We are lovers in love with textile exploration. We love creating original materials through the production of our own textiles, looms, knits and embroidery. The ti-melessness of our silhouettes, the original textile ba-ses, and the artisanal elaborations, make each garment a treasure piece, differential and unique.
The mixture between the cultural richness as inspira-tion, the talent and experience of our artisans, and the contemporary nature of our brand concept, generate a powerful fusion that oscillates between universal so-phistication and the warmth of the land and cultures.
We want you to have the opportunity to live the ex-perience of creating your own textile from the hand of artisan communities and / or indigenous communities.
PRESERVATION OF OUR
ANCETRAL ROOTS
Thanks to the approach and work that we have developed with artisan communities since 2013 (manual weaving, embroidery, horizontal loom weaving) and with indigenous commu-nities since 2017 (“Guanga” vertical loom weaving, weaving in Chaquiras), we have found a connection with our essence and our own identity as Colombians with mixed roots and universal multicultural curiosity. The tools of expression and creation found in the different native artisan cultures from our country, the understanding of the world through symbols and rituals, and also the creative cultural tools that exalt the cosmogony, are immediately connected with the pillars of conceptual development of our brand, nurturing it and evolving

Many companies, young entrepreneurs, artists and designers slowly but surely understand the responsibility and obligation that we, as a young generation, have to the sustainability of our nature, culture and roots. We now know that we have to learn from our past to have a better future, and more so, we know that in the world of immediacy, and the chaotic speed of life in which we now live, ancestral wisdom, and handcrafted pieces are the true new luxury. And this luxury encompass all sorts of implementations of handmade artisanal developments, techniques and products. One of a kind pieces, uniquely made products, and original, real story telling are the future.
